Looking for reliable Indian electric truck sales data? Our database tracks every electric truck sold in India, from small trucks to heavy-duty electric trucks, across all brands. It is exclusive to us, and it covers the whole market.
Why variant-level data matters
Most commercial vehicle databases stop at tonnage. They show you a market overview, but not which models and variants are actually selling. We go one step further and track sales at variant level.
This helps OEMs, component suppliers and investors to:
- plan products, production and sales
- analyse demand
- review their powertrain transition strategy
India’s electric truck market is still young, so these details matter. OEMs can decide on products, markets, powertrains and pricing with more confidence. Component suppliers and venture capital firms also find the data very useful. We also offer a model- and variant-level ICE truck database with a forecast.
Example: IPL Tech sales, CY 2023 to CY 2025
IPL Tech is one of India’s leading electric truck brands. The chart below shows its sales by model and variant.
Here is what the data tells us
- Sales grew fast. Total sales rose from 34 trucks in 2023 to 96 in 2024, and then to 204 in 2025. That is more than double the previous year.
- New variants drove the growth. The Rhino 5538 range, launched in 2025, sold 128 trucks. That is about 63% of the year’s total. The older Rhino 5536 6X4 tractor trailer fell from 96 to 71 trucks.
- The mid-premium variant leads. The Rhino 5538 6X4 tractor trailer is the best-selling variant, with 97 trucks. It sits in the Tier 3 mid-premium price tier.
- Tractor trailers dominate. They made up 199 of the 204 trucks sold in 2025, which is about 97%.
- Tippers have just started. The two Rhino 2838 tipper variants sold only 5 trucks in their first year.
Will the 6X4 tipper work?
We studied which applications suit electric trucks. Our TCO calculation looks at payload limits, per-trip output, truck cost, speed and performance. Based on current market dynamics and customer segments, the 8X4 tipper has more market potential than the 6X4.
Many applications suit a 28T GVW 6X4 truck. However, ICE tippers cover most of that segment. Propel is the market leader here, with a strong product range, good after-sales support and an aggressive sales strategy.
Other brands are moving too. Euler offers many variant options for different customers and applications. iBoard also entered the electric truck market in 2025.
IPL Tech Value-for-Money Scorecard by Variant
Key insights
- Best Value is all tractor trailers. The three Rhino 5536 and 5538 TT variants are in VFM group A. They reach diesel parity on payload efficiency (about 80%) and score about 60 on payload.
- The cheapest-looking option is not winning. The Rhino 5538 4X2 TT is in the same value group but has a much lower momentum (about 30). The 6X4 configuration is what the market prefers.
