Hyundai India register 12% growth in August 2013
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), registered growth of 12 % for August 2013 sales at 52,319 units against 46,886 units sold in August 2013. The cumulative year to date sales for FY 2013-14 registered 2% increase at 269,500 units against 264,360 units sold during the April to August period of FY2012-13.
The domestic sales for August 2013 were 28,311 units which registered a slight increase of 0.2% as compared to 28,257 units for the same month last year. The year to date domestic sales for FY 2013-14 were 149,391 units against 153,372 units sold during the same period of previous financial year, registering 3% decline.
Hyundai exported 24,008 cars in August 2013 as compared to 18, 629 units for August 2012; increase of 29%. The year to date exports for April to August period of FY 2013-14 were 120,109 units against 110,988 units during the same period of previous financial year, registering 8% growth.
Commenting on the sales, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “The exports have shown decent growth on account of strong demand from non-European markets while the domestic market continues to witness pressure. The overall market is suppressed due to various macro-economic factors. The frequent and steep increase in fuel prices continues to impact the already low market sentiments. We expect the challenge to continue in the coming months as well until there is a significant change in macro-economic policies.”
