Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. (TKM) today announced the appointment of Mr. Akito Tachibana as the new Managing Director of TKM, with effect from 1st April 2016
Mr. Akito Tachibana has spent three decades at Toyota. His experience in Toyota Motor Corporation spans across various functions like Domestic and Overseas Planning, Used Car and Product Management. He has worked in the Corporate Planning Function at Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America Inc. and also been responsible of Product Planning for North America. He has also headed Toyota Motor Vietnam Co Ltd as the President.
Mr. Akito Tachibana currently heads the Technical, Purchase and Quality Assurance functions at TKM. Before his current assignment Mr. Akito Tachibana was working as the Executive Vice President – Toyota Motor Thailand. The current MD of TKM, Mr. Naomi Ishii, has been appointed as the General Manager of Corporate Planning Division – Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan from 01st April.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. in collaboration with Toyota Motor Corporation and its nationwide dealer network announces the launch of its distinctive training model – Automotive Service Advisor Toyota-Technical Education Program at Sandip Foundation, Sandip Polytechnic, Nashik, Maharashtra. The event marked the Launch of 8th SA T-TEP Program nationally and 2nd SA T-TEP in Maharashtra State.

T-TEP, a special training module in which Toyota has tied up with industrial training institutes, was launched in 2006 in India. The program aims at providing technical know-how training to ITI/ Polytechnic/Diploma students across India along with providing hands on real time experience within Toyota dealerships.
After a span of 10 years, TTEP is now associated with 45 training institutes under the program. In its first year, the program was implemented in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hubballi. The program was subsequently introduced in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Lalru, Pune, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Indore, Vizag, Ludhiana, Cuttack, Haldwani, Nalbari, Gurgaon, Satara , Paramakudi , Chalakudy,
Mangaluru & Calicut. Till now around 4500 students are trained under this training program and around 65% have been offered employment opportunities at Toyota Dealerships across India. Among the total 843 students who have undergone training at the T-TEPs in the state of Maharashtra, 65% of the overall strength have been recruited. Around 20 students of Automobile/Mechanical Diploma will undergo the SA T-TEP training per year at this institute. Among the total number of students who have undergone training in SA-T-TEP institutes across the country, 78% and 65% of the total strength were recruited in the academic years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 respectively.
The SA T-TEP, a 1 year syllabus, introduces students to Toyota's advanced technology and service techniques. It also includes, on-the-job training at Toyota's dealerships. As a part of this program, TKM will also train institute instructors in the latest technology, used at Toyota and the automobile industry. With this program, Toyota Kirloskar Motor intends to enhance the technical abilities and employability of ITI/ Polytechnic/Diploma students in the age group of 16 to 18 years. The program will benefit Institutes in building skilful manpower for the Indian automotive repair industry. The current automobile repair industry is characterised by inadequately skilled manpower and lack of professional training for repair and diagnostics. T-TEP is a unique initiative undertaken by TKM, in partnership with Institutes and its dealer partners across India to address this issue. The syllabus imparts training on automotive skills and Service Advisor skills in addition to Dealer specific requirement to students, thereby improving their knowledge of Automotive Service and facilitating the adoption of latest technology.

TKM provides T-TEP Institutes with hi tech training packages and Toyota service training manuals and materials. T-TEP supports Toyota's comprehensive human resource development system that extends from training at T-TEP institutes to recruitment and development at Toyota dealerships.
T-TEP is widely recognized across the globe for its effectiveness. The program has been successfully introduced in 419 institutes across 53 countries by Toyota, which includes USA, Australia, Italy, South Africa, China, Vietnam and India.
