The total sales for Tata Motors in the month of January 2014 stood at 40,481 units compared to 61,660 units in January 2013 registering de-growth of 34%. The domestic sales for January 2014 were 36,657 units as against 57,780 units in January 2013, registering 37% de-growth. Exports decreased by 1% in January 2014 at 3,824 units against 3,880 units in January 2013.
The year to date cumulative sales including exports for Tata Motors during April to January period of FY 2013-14 stood at 475,560 units against 675,410 units during the same period of previous financial year registering 30% decline. The year to date domestic sales were down by 31% at 435,492 units against 632,127 units sold during the same period of previous financial year. The year-to-date Exports fall by 7% at 40,068 units for YTD FY 2013-14 against 43,283 units in same period of FY 2012-13.
Passenger Vehicle Segment
Sales of Passenger Vehicle Segment for January 2014 fell by 28%, with 10,974 units against 15,209 units sold during January 2013. The sales of Nano, Indica and Indigo in January 2014 were 8,463 units, decline by 24% as against January 2013 sales of 11,192 units. Sales of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range stood at 2,511 units in January 2014, decline by 37% against January 2013 of 4,017 units.
The year to date domestic sales for April to January period of FY 2013-14 is down by 43% with 114,490 units against 199,186 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13. For the period in review, sales of Nano, Indica and Indigo marked 44% decline which stood at 88,400 units against 158,020 units during same period of previous financial year. The sales of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range for April to January FY 2013-14 decline at 37% with 26,090 units against 41,166 units in same period of FY 2012-13.
Commercial Vehicle Segment
Commercial vehicles sales for January 2014 stumble by 40% at stood at 25,683 units against 42,571 units in January 2013. In the LCV segment 17,517 units were sold during January 2014 registering 48% de-growth against January 2013 sales of 33,849 units. The M&HCV segment for Tata Motors marked 6% de-growth with 8,166 units sold against 8,166 units sold during the same period of previous year.
The sales of Commercial Vehicles for April to January period FY 2013-14 declined by 26% as 321,002 units were sold against 432,941 units sold during the same period of previous financial year. The year to date sales of LCVs for stood at 232,298 units, 26% decrease in comparison with 315,041 sales units during same period of previous financial year. M&HCV’s year to date sales for the April to January period of FY 2013-14 stood at 88,704 units against 117,900 units in the same period of FY 2012-13, marking a 25% decline.
Major loss is happened in LCV and this is heartening to note that there is a sign of recovery in HCV segment also it would be interesting whether LCV TIV has suffered losses or the share has been lost to others.
