Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s total sales for January 2014 had declined by 10%, as they 102,416 units were sold against 114,205 units for January 2013. Domestic sales fall by 6% in January 2014 with 96,569 units against 103,026 units sold in January 2013. The exports for January 2014 fall by 48% with 5,847 units against 11,179 units in January 2013.


The total sales for April to January period of FY 2013-14 were 932,587 units which decline by 1% against 941,930 units sold during the same period of the previous financial year. Domestic sales for the period increased by 1% at 851,662 units against 845,201 units sold during the same period of the previous financial year. Exports fall by 16% with 80,925 units against 96,729 units exported during the same period of previous year.

Segment-wise Sales

The passenger car sales declined by 7% for January 2014 at 82,461 units against January 2013 sales of 88,557 units. The utility segment which includes Gypsy, Ertiga and Grand Vitara, registered sales of 4,763 units in January 2014 against 6,095 units in January 2013 registering a 22% de-growth. The sales of Maruti Vans – Omni and Eeco stood at 9,345 units in January 2014 marking 12% growth against 8,374 units sold in January 2013.

The year to date sales for Car Segment for April to January period of FY 2013-14 registered 5% growth at 719,842 units against 685,576 units sold during same period of previous financial year. Sales for Utility Segment in April to January period of FY 2013-14 fall by 26% with 49,389 units against 66,747 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13. Van sales for April-January FY 2013-14 were at 82,431 units against 92,878 units during the same period of FY 2012-13, marking 11% decline.

Car Segment, January 2014 – Modelwise Overview

For January 2014, sales of Sx4 had steeply declined at 81%. The sales of mini cars declined by 17%, while the compact car segment returned positive sales of 2%.

The Mini Car Segment which includes M800, Alto, A-Star and Wagon R recorded 4% growth while sales of Dzire grew by 24%. Sx4 is down by 39%.

Maruti Celerio

A new addition to the small car array , Celerio will be unveiled at the AutoExpo to be held in Delhi from 5 to 11 February. The car features Auto Gear Shift technology called EZDrive on selected variants claim to provide a mileage of 23.1kmph.
