The total sales of Mahindra and Mahindra Automotive sector for the month of February 2014, stood at 42,166 units marking a decline of 12% as compared against 47,824 units sold in February 2013. The domestic sales for February 2014 stood at 39,338 vehicles against 44,399 units sold during the same month of previous year, marking 11% drop. The exports units for the month were 2,828 units; 18% decrease as against 3,428 units during February 2013.
The year to date sales for the April to February period of FY2013-14 stood at 455,540 units against 511,469 units sold during the same period of previous financial year, registering 11% decline. The domestic sales for the period in review were 429,027 units against 481,690 units during same period of previous year, registering 11% decline. Exports for the April-December period of FY 2013-14 slip by 11% at 26,513 units against 29,779 units during the same period of FY 2012-13.
Segmentwise – Domestic Sales
- Mahindra’s Passenger Vehicle sales fall by 18% in February 2014 with 19,308 units sold against 23,421 units sold during February 2013.
- Sales of Four Wheeler Commercial Vehicles including Maxximo, Gio, Genio & Bolero Pick registered 3% decrease at 14,701 units in February 2014 against 15,167 units in February 2013.
- M&M Three Wheeler segment sales witnessed a decline of 2% for February 2014 with 4,724 units sold against 4,803 units sold during February 2013.
- Sales for Mahindra Trucks and Bus declined at 40% for February 2014 at 605 units sold against 1,008 units sold during February 2013.
- The year-to-date sales of Passenger Vehicles for April to February period of FY 2013-14 stood at 205,722 units, registering decline of 19% as against 253,423 units sold during the same period in FY 2012-13.
- The year-to-date sales for four wheeler commercial vehicles including Maxximo, Gio, Genio & Bolero Pick-Up registered 2% growth which stood at 159,938 units against 157,021 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13.
- The year to date sales for FY 2013-14 of Three Wheeler Segment declined by 7% at 56,309 units against 60,679 units in same period of FY 2012-14.
- The year to date sales for Trucks and Bus were 7,058 units as against 10,567 units during same period of FY 2012-13, registering 33% de-growth.
Commenting on the monthly performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “The Auto Industry has received the much needed boost in terms of an excise duty reduction and this has resulted in higher enquiries over the last one week. The recently concluded Auto Expo has also been a success which will only help in generating demand. At Mahindra we are hopeful that these positive initiatives would be the beginning of a gradual upswing for the auto industry, as we move into the next financial year.”
