The total sales for Mahindra and Mahindra in Automotive sector for the month of March 2014, stood at 51,636 units marking a decline of 0.5% as compared against 51,904 units sold in March 2013. The domestic sales for March 2014 stood at 48,490 vehicles against 49,225 units in March 2013, marking a 1% drop. The exports units for the month were 3,146 units; 17% increase as against 2,679 units during March 2013.

The year to date sales for FY2013-14 (April 2013 to March 2014) stood at 507,176 units against 563,373 units sold during the same period of previous financial year, registering 10% decline. The domestic sales for the FY 2013-14 were 477,517 units against 530,915 units during same period of previous year, registering 10% decline. Exports for the FY 2013-14 slip by 9% at 29,659 units against 32,458 units during the same period of FY 2012-13.

Segmentwise Sales – March 2014

Mahindra’s Passenger Vehicle sales fall by 9% in March 2014 at 23,433 units sold against 25,847 units sold during March 2013.

Sales of Four Wheeler Commercial Vehicles including Maxximo, Gio, Genio & Bolero Pick registered 3% decrease at 17,649 units in March 2014 against 17,212 units in March 2013.

M&M Three Wheeler segment sales witnessed a growth of 31% for March 2014 with 6,305 units sold against 4,831 units sold during March 2013.

Sales for Mahindra Trucks and Bus declined at 17% for March 2014 at 1,103 units sold against 1,335 units sold during March 2013.

Segmentwise Sales – FY 2013-14

The year-to-date sales of Passenger Vehicles for FY 2013-14 stood at 229,155 units, registering decline of 18% as against 279,270 units sold during the same period in FY 2012-13.

The year-to-date sales for four wheeler commercial vehicles including Maxximo, Gio, Genio & Bolero Pick-Up registered 2% growth which stood at 177,587 units against 174,233 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13.

The year to date sales for FY 2013-14 of Three Wheeler Segment declined by 4% at 62,614 units against 65,510 units in same period of FY 2012-13.

The year to date sales for Trucks and Bus were 8,161 units as against 11,902 units during same period of FY 2012-13, registering 33% de-growth.

Speaking on the monthly performance, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Post the reduction in the excise duty across all segments, the auto industry has seen the level of inquiry going up, but has not witnessed any major surge in sales. We do hope that the sentiments improve and change post the national elections, leading to an increase in demand as well. At Mahindra, we are happy with our overall performance for the month of March where the de-growth is negligible at 0.5%. Going forward, we continue to be optimistic for the future and expect to witness a growth momentum during FY 2014-15.”
