The sales for Maruti Suzuki India Limited for the month of September 2013 stood at 104,964 units including exports, grew by 12% as against 93,988 units in September 2012.  The year to date sales at the end of second quarter of FY 2013-14 stood at 542,020 units, registering 3% growth against 526,272 units sold during the same period of the previous financial year.


Domestic sales were 90,399 units in September 2013, 2% less than the 88,801 units sold in September 2012. The exports for September 2013 witnessed a dramatic increase of 181% at 14, 565 units against 5,187 units in September 2012.

Year to date domestic sales for FY 2013-14 also increased by 3% at 486,908 units against 473,218 sales units registered during same period of previous financial year. Exports grew by 4% in YTD FY 2013-14, with 55,112 units against 53,054 units exported during the same period in FY 2012-13.

Segment wise Overview

The passenger car sales registered 15% growth for September 2013 at 78,975 units against September 2012 sales of 68,957 units. The year to date sales for FY 2013-14 for the segment took a hike of 11% with 413,537 sales units against 373,686 units sold during same period of previous financial year.

The utility segment which includes Gypsy, Ertiga and Grand Vitara, sold 2,657 units against 7,224 units for September 2012 registering a 63% de-growth. The year to date sales for this segment during April to September period of FY 2013-14 crumble by 35% with 26,404 units against 40,366 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13.

The sales of Maruti Vans – Omni and Eeco stood at 8,767 units in September 2013 marking 31% de-growth against 12,620 units for September 2012. The year to date sales for the April to September period of FY 2013-14 stood at 46,967 units against 59,166 units during the same period of FY 2012-13.

Passenger Car Segment – Brandwise Overview

The sales of mini car segment which includes brands like Maruti 800, Alto and Wagon-R were 41,061 units in September 2013 which grew by 5% in comparison with September 2012 sales of 39,150 units. The sales of compact car segment including brands like Swift, Estilo and Ritz grew by 17% for September 2013 at 20,828 units against September 2012 sales of 17,813 units. The sales of Dzire in September 2013 stood at 16,708 units, 43% increase against September 2012 sales of 11,694 units. The sales of SX4 increase by 31% at 378 units sold for September 2013 against 288 units in September 2012.

The year to date sales for mini car segment during April to September period of FY 2013-14 grew by 10% with 204,335 units against 185,023 units in the same period of FY 2012-13. The year to date sales compact cars registers 1% de-growth with 111,797 units sold so far in FY 2013-14 against 112,617 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13. So far this fiscal year 94,939 units of Dzire were sold against 73,150 units during same period of FY 2012-13, registering 30% growth. And the year-to-date sales for FY 2013-14 of Maruti SX4 decline at 14% at 2,466 units against 2,861 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13.
