The total sales for Tata Motors in the month of October 2013 stood at 51,638 units compared to 71,771 units in October 2012 registering a declined at 28%. Total domestic sales stood at 46,926 units in October 2013, registering 31% dip as against 68,145 units in October 2012. Exports increased by 30% in October 2013 at 4712 units against 3626 units in October 2012.


The year to date cumulative sales including exports for Tata Motors for FY 2013-14 stood at 386,127 units against 513,040 units during the same period of previous financial year ,registering 25% decline. The year to date domestic sales were down by 26% at 356,380 units against 481,665 units sold during the same period of previous financial year. The year-to-date Exports stay down by 5% at 29,747 units for FY 2013-14 against 31,375 units in FY 2012-13.

Commercial Vehicles

Commercial vehicles sales for October 2013 stood at 32,793 units against 47,026 units in October 2012 registering 30% decline. The year to date sales declined by 19% for the April to October period of FY 2013-14 at 242,765 units in comparison with 298,532 units sold during same period of previous financial year.

In the LCV segment 24,858 units were sold during October 2013 registering 29% de-growth against October 2012 sales of 34,905 units. The year to date sales for FY 2013-14 stood at 176,709 units which is 15% less in comparison with sales of 208,715 units during the same period of FY 2012-13.

The M&HCV segment continues to crumble for Tata Motors as sales are down by 35% with 7,935 units sold against 12,121 units sold during October 2012. The year to date sales for the April to October period of FY 2013-14 stood at 66,056 units against 89,817 units in the same period of FY 2012-13, marking a 26% decline.

Passenger Vehicles

In the month of October 2013 Tata Motors sold 14,133 passenger vehicles against 21,119 units sold during October 2012 registering 33% de-growth. The year to date sales for April to October period of FY 2013-14 is down by 45% with 83,868 units against 151,761 units in the same period of FY 2012-13.

The sales of Nano, Indica and Indigo in October 2013 were 10,944 units, decline by 33% as against October 2012 sales of 16,444 units. The year to date FY 2013-14 sales marked 46% decline with sales of 65,490 units against 122,033 units during same period of previous financial year.

Sales of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range stood at 3,189 units in October 2013, 32% less than the sales of October 2012 of 4,675 units. The year to date sales for declined by 38% at 18,378 units against 29,728 units in same period of FY 2012-13.

  1. I think Honda and Ford took the luxury segment of Indian car market, since their sales increased 68% & 13% respectively in first half of 2013 ~ 2014.

  2. Tata Motors kept its Chairmans promise of bringing a car to graduate from two wheelers at a reasonable cost. I feel a great Job has been done, but it is time to move on, give the youth of this nation not just a cheap car but make more sexy and fun. Though the sales pitch seemed to have moved in this direction, the products have not. When Mahindra can experiment by bringing so many models, why can’t TATA with its great research centre. I am sure that they can once they set their mind to it.
