Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s total sales for December 2013 had declined by 4%, as they sold 90,924 units against 95,145 units sold in December 2012. Domestic sales fall by 6% in December 2013 with 86,613 units against 82,073 units sold in December 2012. The exports for December 2013 fall by 67% with 4,311 units against 13,072 units in December 2012.


The total sales for April to December period of FY 2013-14 were 830,171 units which registered marginal growth of 0.3% against 827,725 units sold during the same period of the previous financial year. Domestic sales for the period increased by 2% at 755,093 units against 742,175 units sold during the same period of the previous financial year. Exports fall by 12% with 75,078 units against 85,550 units exported during the same period of previous year.

Segment-wise Sales

The passenger car sales declined by 6% for December 2013 at 73,155 units against December 2012 sales of 68,729 units. The utility segment which includes Gypsy, Ertiga and Grand Vitara, registered sales of 5,146 units in December 2013 against 5,447 units in December 2012 registering a 6% de-growth. The sales of Maruti Vans – Omni and Eeco stood at 8,312 units in December 2013 marking 5% growth against 7,897 units sold in December 2012.

The year to date sales for Car Segment for April to December period of FY 2013-14 registered 7% growth at 637,381 units against 597,019 units sold during same period of previous financial year. Sales for Utility Segment in April to December period of FY 2013-14 fall by 26% with 44,626 units against 60,652 units sold during the same period of FY 2012-13. Van sales for April-December FY 2013-14 were at 73,086 units against 84,504 units during the same period of FY 2012-13, marking 14% decline.

Car Segment, December 2013 – Brand-wise Overview

The sales of mini car segment which includes brands like Maruti 800, Alto and Wagon-R were 38,286 units in December 2013 which grew by 17% in comparison with December 2012 sales of 32,797 units. Sales of compact car segment including brands like Swift, Estilo and Ritz slip by 15% for December 2013 at 19,171 units against December 2012 sales of 22,482 units. Sales of Dzire grew by 18% while SX4 recorded 18% de-growth.

Car Segment, April – December 2013 – Brand-wise Overview

The year to date sales for mini car segment (Maruti 800, Alto and Wagon-R) during April to December period of FY 2013-14 grew by 8% with 320,040 units against 296,732 units in the same period of FY 2012-13. The sales for Dzire went up by 25%, while SX4 decline by 30% while sales of SX4 are down by 30% for April to December period of FY 2013-14 as compared against same period of FY 2012-13.

  1. Dear sirs, this is good article and statastics. If comprehensive data for all products in INDIA can be covered , if possible commercial segment also, that would be more meaning ful

During third Quarter 2013-14,the Hyundai i10Grand,HONDA Amaze and Sport Eco have made the difference in the sale of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.,how ever market for the MSIL is till in the first slot and I’m sured that the company will make minor adjustment in the Sales promotion, as they already having better service networks in the domestic market and Common man have eyes on their brand.
