General Motors India had registered 14% slip in November 2013 sales as they 6,212 units were sold against 7,238 units in November 2012. These include 2,151 units of Beat, 1,347 units of Tavera and 1,206 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.


Commenting on the sales, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “As expected, the market has gone down drastically after a small spike during the festive season. Overall, the market continues to remain sluggish due to unfavorable economic conditions and we do not expect any improvement in the coming months. Unless the government offers a stimulus package to the struggling automobile industry, the market is unlikely to see any upturn before a new government assumes office after elections next year,” he added.

  1. GM is a foreign company in Indian Market. Instead of looking at Mass numbers of Small hatch backs and MUVs, they should provide styled C-segment quality brands with good mileage. Indian customers have gone above Maruti 800s and Esteem, they need comfort, style, luxury and Mileage. They want to show off conservatively and spend on vehicles. I have driven only one GM product- Chevy Optra, It is fantastic !!! So is my expectation from Cruz, seems they are good at it. Why GM is not able to come up so good, I guess product selection for entry level and low mileage. I believe GM strategists have to seriously target only high profit styled luxury products. They must think Niche and target Upper class in India.
