Indian Automobile Industry witnessed a total sales growth of 4.3% in January 2014 with 1,866,950 units sold across all segments as opposed to January 2013 where 1,789,283 units were sold.
The overall Production stood at 1,935,311 units in January 2014, marking 2% increase as compared against 1,840,977 units produced in January 2013. The domestic sales for January 2014 grew by 3.8% as 1,619,689 units were sold against 1,561,130 units sold during the same month of previous year. Export for January 2014 were 247,261 units which registered 8% growth against 228,153 units exported during the same month of previous year.
Overall Sales Grow by 4.3%
- Two Wheeler Sales grew by 9% in January 2014 with 1,484,849 units sold against 1,360,630 units sold during January 2013.
- Passenger Vehicle sales declined by 9% in January 2014 with 258,432 units sold against 283,894 units sold during January 2013.
- Commercial Vehicles recorded 19% sales decline for January 2014 with 55,942 units sold against 68,696 units sold during January 2013.
- Three Wheeler's sales shrunk by 11% in January 2014 with 67,727 units against 76,063 units for January 2013.
Domestic Sales decline by 3.8%.
- Two Wheeler Domestic Sales recorded positive growth of 9% in January 2014 with 1,313,796 units sold against 1,206,931 units sold during January 2013.
- Passenger Vehicle sales fall by 9% in January 2014 with 219,809 units sold against 242,460 units sold during January 2013.
- Commercial Vehicles came down by 21% for January 2014 at 49,987 units sold against 63,218 units sold during January 2013.
- Domestic Three Wheelers sales declined by 26% in January 2014 at 36,097 units against 48,521 units for January 2013.
Exports Growth of 8%
- Two wheeler exports had increased by 11% in January 2014 at 171,053 units against 153,699 units in January 2013.
- Passenger vehicle exports for January 2014 de-grew by 7% at 38,623 units against 41,434 units exported during January 2013.
- Commercial Vehicle exports grow by 9%, with 5,955 units for January 2014 against 5,478 units in January 2013.
- Exports of three wheelers marked 15% growth at 31,630 units in January 2014 against 27,542 units exported during January 2013.
Automobile Production grew by 5.1%
Overall Production in January 2014 stood 5.1% higher than same month for previous year, with only Two Wheeler Production recording positive growth of 10.1%, while all other segments registered negative growths, notable 7% reduction for Passenger Vehicles. Commercial Vehicles Production were cut down by 22.6%.
