As the slowdown continues in the commercial vehicle industry, Ashok Leyland had reported a net loss of Rs. 25 Crore for the second quarter of fiscal year 2013-14, reduced from Rs. 143 Crore during the first quarter. The company had reported a net loss of Rs 167 crores for the first half of FY 2013-14 against net Profit of Rs 210 crores during the same period of previous fiscal.
The overall year-to-date sales for April to September period of financial year 2013-14 stood at 44,841 units, lower by 17% against 57,324 units sold during the same period of previous financial year. The half yearly sales of commercial vehicles except dost stood at 30,820 units, registered 12% drop as in comparison with September 2012 where 41,411 units were sold. Sales of Dost went down by 12% at 14,021 units in September 2013 against 15,913 units sold in September 2012.
